SAC Developmental Disabilities Grants

The SAC Developmental Disabilities Grants aim to enhance the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities by funding innovative programs that foster education, independence, and social engagement. Grants of up to $5,000 support both new and existing initiatives, including recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities. Eligible organizations include public charities and governmental units serving the Foundation’s designated areas. Priority is given to projects that promote respect, inclusion, and productivity, ensuring a positive impact on the community.

Purpose
Created from the assets of the Sheltered Activity Center when it dissolved, the fund is dedicated to improving the lives of people with developmental disabilities through education, independence and social opportunities.
What We Fund
New and existing programs or services that address the recreational, social and educational needs of people with developmental disabilities and other handicapping conditions. Priority will be given to innovative direct service programs or projects that promote independence, productivity, respect and inclusion for all individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.Small capital investments including equipment for agencies to assist clients with developmental disabilities and technology that supports programming and aids in mission fulfillment.Recurring activities such as education or mentoring events, camps, competitions, therapy, or non-fundraising events.

Eligibility

Organizations eligible to receive grants from the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region are those determined by the IRS to be public charities.This encompasses most charitable, scientific, social service, educational and religious organizations described in § 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1), (a)(2), or (a)(3) of the tax code, and private operating foundations.Grants may also be made to units of government (this includes Native American tribal governments) for public purposes.Organizations that are not public charities may apply through a fiscal sponsor.Organizations must serve residents of the Foundation’s service area including Outagamie, Calumet, Shawano, Waupaca and/or northern Winnebago counties.See full details of eligibility criteria here
