Ryan Family Art Grant

Overview:
Established in honor of Judy Ryan, a White Bear Lake resident who taught elementary art for more than 35 years. The Ryan Family Fund helps supplement art instruction in the local elementary schools. Judy Ryan and her children established this fund with the WBLAEF.

Eligibility:

  • Licensed elementary teachers currently employed by the White Bear Lake Area School District

  • Applicants may contact the Foundation office if unsure of eligibility
  • Eligible Uses:

  • Instructional materials

  • Art supplies

  • Artists-in-Residence costs

  • Designated for K-5 classrooms
  • What They Don't Fund:
    Unused items must remain at the school where the grant was awarded. If a recipient is not employed by the district at the time the award is funded, funds revert to the Ryan Family Art Grant fund.

    Award Terms:

  • Maximum award: $1,000 per individual or team

  • Grants designated for K-5 classrooms within White Bear Lake Area School District

  • Expenses are reimbursed after submitting a reimbursement form with original receipts

  • A written results-based evaluation or 3-5 minute presentation to the Foundation Board is required within two months of project completion
  • Selection Process:
    The Ryan family selects proposals that best improve and enhance art programs for students in the school district. Applicants may be contacted if more information is needed. The Ryan family makes recommendations to the WBLAEF Board of Directors for approval.

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Deadline: Tuesday, October 7, 2026 (applications accepted from licensed elementary teachers)
    2. Complete the online application through the online portal
    3. Building Principal Review: Have your building principal review the project prior to submitting this application, with agreement that the project aligns with district goals
    4. Submission: Submit completed application online
    5. Review: The Ryan family selects proposals; applicants may be contacted for more information
    6. Approval: Ryan family makes recommendations to WBLAEF Board of Directors for approval
    7. Permission: Once approved, applicant must receive permission from Program Committee if changes are needed
    8. Reimbursement: Submit reimbursement form with original receipts to WBLAEF office
    9. Evaluation: Submit written results-based evaluation or arrange 3-5 minute presentation with WBLAEF office within two months of project completion
