Areas of Interest: The grant agreement specifies the following areas of interest: Charitable organizations that provide education about or financial support for historic preservation, such as the Historic Huntsville Foundation and the Huntsville/Madison County Historical Society. Charitable organizations that provide education about or financial support for environmental conservation, such as the Land Trust of North Alabama, the Nature Conservancy (Alabama chapter), and the Alabama Environmental Council. Charitable organizations, such as the American Civil Liberties Union, that serve to educate the public about the need to take an active part in civics in the United States, defined as the study of the theoretical and practical aspects of citizenship, its rights and duties and the duties of citizens to each other as members of a political body and to the government, including the study of civil law and civil code and the study of government with attention to the role of citizens - as opposed to external factors - in the operation and oversight of government.
