Program Type: Six-week summer bridge program administered by Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS)

Overview:
Running Start is a summer bridge program for high school graduates who are financially and/or academically underprepared for college. The program helps students, many of whom are first in their family to pursue higher education, make a smooth transition to SBCC and succeed in college and life.

    Target Population

  • High school graduates who are financially underprepared for college
  • High school graduates who are academically underprepared for college
  • First-generation college students
  • Students from traditionally under-resourced and underprepared backgrounds

  • Academic tutoring
  • Peer mentoring
  • Financial assistance
  • Preparation for enrolling as full-time students at SBCC

    Program Success

  • Over 90% of program participants enroll at SBCC the following fall semester
