PPMD launched a Robotics Initiative in spring 2015 to explore devices in development that have the potential to assist people living with Duchenne. The organization has been an early funder of several robotic programs that strive to improve the quality of life for people with Duchenne.

Project Description

This grant supported a pilot study of the X-Ar exoskeletal arm technology developed by Talem Technologies. The X-Ar is designed to build upon a user's arm strength, empowering them to endure longer and perform better in various tasks. The device consists of a cuff that cradles the arm with a patented configuration of springs and tensioning hardware to provide zero-gravity support necessary to reach farther and accomplish more.
