Overview

RMHC South Florida Grant Program

Overview: Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida extends its impact by awarding grants to local 501(c)(3) organizations and programs dedicated to improving the lives of children in the community. Since 1988, the organization has awarded over $4.9 million to South Florida-based organizations that directly benefit children and families.

Total Funding Available: $50,000 for 2026

  • Health and Fitness Education
  • Healthcare and Medical research

    Eligibility Requirements

    To be considered for funding, applicant organizations must:
  • Be designated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) and tax-exempt under IRS codes
  • Demonstrate programs that directly benefit children from birth through 18 years of age
  • Show strong, consistent, and effective organizational management
  • Have clearly articulated goals, objectives, and implementation strategies
  • Maintain a broad and sustainable base of funding support
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to address the needs of specific populations of children with measurable outcomes
  • Have a clearly defined program or initiative for which funding is being requested
  • Note: Organizations may be awarded a grant once every two years

    What RMHC Does NOT Fund

  • Advertising or fundraising campaigns
  • Partisan, political or denominational programs
  • Ongoing general operating or administrative expenses
  • Intermediary funding agencies
  • Endowment campaigns
  • Ongoing salaries or travel expenses

Funding Source

Financial support through the grant program is exclusively funded by donations collected in donation boxes at McDonald's restaurants throughout South Florida, supplemented by matching funds from the global RMHC organization.

How to Apply

Grant Application Process

The application process consists of two steps:

#### STEP ONE: Letter of Intent (LOI)

Deadline: Friday, May 22, 2026

The Letter of Intent is the first step in applying for funding. Requirements:

  • Length: Must not exceed two pages

  • Required Components:

  • 1. Organization cover sheet
    2. Organization information
    3. Purpose of the proposed project
    4. Project description
    5. Project evaluation plan
    6. Project budget

    Next Steps: If the Letter of Intent is approved, applicants will receive an email invitation to submit a full application.

    #### STEP TWO: Full Grant Proposal and Application

    Deadline: Friday, August 21, 2026

    Note: This step only applies to organizations that receive full grant application invitations via email after LOI approval.

    Required Documents:
    1. A one or two-page cover letter on organization letterhead, signed by a senior management official, briefly outlining the proposal
    2. A letter of endorsement from a McDonald's representative on company letterhead, who is familiar with the organization and the project
    3. A copy of the Internal Revenue Service ruling of the organization's tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3)
    4. A detailed budget specifically outlining the total amount of funds requested from RMHC of South Florida
    5. Evidence of a broad base of other sources of funding and support
    6. Financial review requirements:
    - A review by an independent CPA if annual income is between $250,000 and $500,000
    - An audited financial report if annual income is over $500,000
    7. A 990 or 990EZ that has been submitted to the IRS in the past 12 months

    Submission Instructions:

  • Submit the complete application via email to: grants@rmhcsouthflorida.org

  • Incomplete or late applications will be declined and returned

  • Decision Notification: Grantees will be notified of the decision in September 2026
  • #### Post-Award Requirements

    If the proposal is approved, grantees must:

  • Submit a final report within six months of receipt of the award

  • Use the forms provided for submitting the final report

  • Submit completed reporting forms via email to: grants@rmhcsouthflorida.org
  • This reporting requirement ensures RMHC South Florida can verify that grants are used to their full potential.
