Overview

Maine Community Foundation Founded in 1983, the Maine Community Foundation brings people and resources together to build a better Maine through strategic giving, community leadership, personalized service, local expertise and strong investments. The Maine Community Foundation established its first scholarship fund in 1984. Now, through the generosity of individuals, community organizations, and businesses that believe in the importance of education, the community foundation awards more than $3 million each year from nearly 700 scholarship funds. MaineCF scholarships provide financial assistance for Maine residents attending accredited colleges, universities, technical and career schools. The funds also support students attending private high schools, camps, and experiential learning programs. Rice Scholarship Fund The Rice Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 to provide scholarship support for students who have resided a substantial part of their formative years (K-8) on an off-shore island of Maine in the area from Seguin to Eastport who are attending accredited, degree-granting colleges or vocational training schools. While there is a preference for residents of off-shore islands, eligible residents of bridged islands of Maine are also invited to submit an application.
