Overview

Introduction The HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) was created by the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990 (NAHA) and is the largest Federal block grant available to states and local governments to create affordable housing. Every year, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) determines the amount of HOME funds that state and local governments receive using a formula allocation based on relative housing need. The intent of the HOME Program is to: Increase the supply of decent, affordable housing to low- and very low-income householdsStrengthen the ability of state and local governments to provide affordable housing Leverage private sector participationExpand the capacity of non-profit housing providers. The HOME Program regulations are found at 24 CFR Part 92.
