Overview
Responsive Grants
Purpose: Fund requests from established organizations. The Foundation reviews proposals to complement its strategic direction.
- Primary: Stark County, Ohio
- Secondary: Carroll, Holmes, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties in Ohio
Geographic Scope
- Established organizations (NOT newly formed)
- Organizations with annual budgets of $100,000 or more
- Organizations whose programs/services demonstrate commitment to needs of poor and underserved
- Focus areas: health, education, and social services
- Must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or governmental entity
- Programs/services must align with Foundation's mission
- Must comply with local, state, and federal laws
Eligibility
- Newly formed organizations
- Organizations with budgets under $100,000 (should apply for Good Samaritan grants instead)
Ineligibility
- Annual appeals or membership drives
- Capital requests (with limited exceptions)
- Computers
- Debt reduction
- Endowments
- Grants to individuals
- One-time events not part of ongoing program
- Ongoing operating costs for free medical and dental clinics
- Scholarships
- Vehicles
- In schools: computers, curriculum expenses, equipment, field trips, faculty salaries, playground equipment, scholarships, staff development, vehicles
What Will NOT Be Funded
- Board of Directors periodically refines areas of interest
- Foundation may limit proposals to those complementing strategic direction
- Staff reviews four times per year on a rolling basis
