Summary
The Reproductive Health Equity initiative aims to enhance sexual and reproductive health for all Coloradans, particularly marginalized communities. By ensuring access to accurate information and culturally relevant services, we empower individuals to make informed decisions regarding their health. Our collaborative approach involves various stakeholders to promote equitable healthcare solutions. This initiative prioritizes young people, people of color, and low-income individuals, striving to dismantle systemic barriers and support reproductive autonomy across the state.Overview
Purpose Expanding and improving sexual and reproductive equity across Colorado so that all Coloradans, especially those who have been historically marginalized and underrepresented, have autonomy and power to make informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health, rights, and well-being. Why We Care We believe all Coloradans, no matter who they are or where they live in the state, should have the information and services they need to make informed and timely decisions about their health and well-being. Sexual and reproductive health is directly tied to a person’s health and well-being. Medically accurate information and culturally relevant services are essential in supporting all Coloradans, especially young people and adults, to make decisions about their bodies, relationships, and futures. This includes whether and when to use contraception, start a family, or continue a pregnancy. Our Approach ReproCollab is an initiative of Caring for Colorado that advances reproductive equity in Colorado. Achieving reproductive equity requires the collective efforts of diverse partners to protect and expand reproductive and sexual health across the life course. Informed by the reproductive justice movement, we understand that reproductive equity happens in the broad context of intersecting issues, including race, gender, and structural and social influences on health and bodily autonomy. We seek to change power dynamics to ensure that all people have equitable access to resources, information, and services and the power they need to determine their sexual and reproductive goals. ReproCollab engages funders, clinicians, researchers, community organizations, and grassroots leaders to improve reproductive healthcare, strengthen advocacy efforts, and develop leadership for reproductive health equity in Colorado. We center the lived experiences, assets, and needs of communities that have historically been denied access to resources and information to determine their sexual and reproductive goals. ReproCollab approaches its work through grantmaking, building partnerships, and convening partners across three intersecting strategic areas: Protect and Expand Contraceptive Access Promote Community-Led Solutions in Sexual Health Education Lead and Advocate for Reproductive Equity In addition, our Choose When initiative provides grants to safety net clinics to support access to contraceptive care in communities with a high proportion of uninsured and underinsured individuals and where contraceptive care is limited.Eligibility
