Recovery Voucher Program

  • Eligible Crisis Types:

  • Natural disasters (fire, flood, pests)

  • Personal crises:

  • - Eviction
    - Loss of employment
    - Domestic violence
    - Transition from homelessness
    - Re-entry (post-incarceration or transitioning from rehabilitation)

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a Wayne County resident

  • Currently experiencing a crisis (natural or personal) or in recovery/transition

  • Must provide photo identification

  • Must provide transition documents

  • Must provide proof of income and transition
  • Voucher Amounts:

  • Single person: $150

  • Household/family of 2-4: $325

  • Household/family of 5+: $475
  • Limitations:

  • Assistance limited to one household once per year

  • Vouchers expire 14 days from issue date

  • Amounts subject to change

  • Funding available as funds allow
  • Referral Process:

  • Can be referred by United Way of Wayne County Community Partner or other Verified Partner (e.g., UNC Healthcare, Wayne County Public Schools)

  • Referrals submitted through NCCARES360 or direct contact with UWWC

  • If referring agency involved in client's transition, referral letter required
  • Funding Source: Various grants and potentially campaign fund designations/allocations
