Area of Impact: Quality of Life
Quality of Life grants honor Mr. Brown’s legacy of helping to propel the ongoing success and sustainability of civic, cultural and human services organizations in Louisville through philanthropy. The work carried out by Quality of Life grant recipients contribute to a positive image of our community by furthering organizational missions in strategic and sustainable ways.
When deciding where to plant roots, people want to join an inviting and compassionate community that has boundless civic pride. We support work that positions Louisville and Kentucky as a livable community where people want to work, play, learn and lead.
Grantmaking Priorities

* JGBF makes grants with the goal of addressing Louisville’s most pressing social issues.
* Funding provided may serve as an opportunity to build capacity and strengthen the sector.
* Cultural & Civic
* JGBF makes grants with the goal of maintaining cultural assets important to the state and city and cultivating those that are emerging.
* Philanthropic Sector
* GBF makes grants with the goal of increasing support for nonprofits.
* JGBF prioritizes proposals that support efforts to:
* Engage in community dialogue about persistent problems, identifying pressing issues for funding and collaboration.
* Fund capacity building, including strategic planning, board development, partnerships, reorganization, mergers, etc.
* Increase effectiveness and efficiency in the nonprofit sector

* Quality of Life funding is primarily focused on Louisville, Kentucky and supports grants to human services, civic and cultural, and philanthropic organizations.
Ineligibility
* What we don't fund:
* Requests outside the state of Kentucky or the Louisville metropolitan area
* Performing arts
* Requests from religious organizations for religious purposes (including theological seminaries)
* Individuals
* Political entities
* Fundraising events
* Individual public or private schools
