PTO Faculty & Staff Grants

Program Overview:
The Carlisle PTO raises funds to support and enrich the curriculum at Carlisle Public Schools (CPS). The bulk of PTO-raised funds goes toward annual PTO Faculty & Staff Grants and Curriculum Enrichment programs. These grants assist teachers through resources that allow them to enhance current lessons or initiate new and innovative programs and teaching tools into classrooms.

What Can Be Funded:

  • Classroom or school activities (on or off campus)

  • Student workshops

  • Educational materials or equipment

  • Pilot enrichment programs
  • Recent PTO Grants Examples:

  • Hokki stools for speech/language & 7th grade (2024)

  • Transportation for Music Department field trip to CCHS (2024)

  • Book series for Health Classes (2024)

  • Book series for Kindergarten (2023)
  • Evaluation Criteria:
    The Grants Committee considers the following when evaluating applications:

  • Curriculum fit

  • Alignment with district goals

  • Number of students impacted

  • Whether alternative financial sources are available

  • Whether previous grants have been awarded providing the same or similar opportunity

  • Long-term impact of the investment
  • Strong Applications Show:

  • Team involvement (students, staff, parents, community)

  • Alignment with CPS District Goals

  • Clear impact on student learning

  • Consideration of other/matching funding sources
  • Award Process:

  • Some grants are funded in full

  • Some grants are partially funded

  • Other grants do not receive funding

  • The Committee presents recommendations to the PTO Board

  • Once approved by the PTO Board, awards are sent to the School Committee for approval

  • All awarded grants are publicized on the PTO website and PTO News email newsletter
  • Committee Composition:

  • Superintendent and Principals for middle and elementary schools

  • One teacher each from middle school and elementary school

  • School Business Manager

  • School Integration Technology Specialist

  • PTO President

  • PTO Treasurer (also serving as PTO Grants Chairperson)

  • PTO Middle School Chair

  • PTO Curriculum Enrichment Chair

  • Two current parents of Carlisle Schools children

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Submit Application: Submit your application via the Google Form by the deadline date (October 10, 2025 for 2025 grants)

    2. Single Combined Application: There is one unified application for both PTO and CEF grants—no need to differentiate between the two organizations

    3. Eligibility: Proposals may be submitted by individuals or teams, and more than one proposal per person or team will be considered

    4. Review & Approval Process:
    - Proposals are reviewed by the Grants Committee
    - Committee votes on recommendations
    - Approved grants are voted on by PTO Board
    - Approved grants move to the School Committee for final approval in November
    - Applicants are notified in December

    5. Post-Award Requirements:
    - Within 30 days of completing your project or once grant items are in use, recipients must submit a short evaluation form

      Timeline

    • Grant applications typically due: mid-October (specifically October 10, 2025)
    • Grants Committee meeting: shortly after deadline
    • School Committee approval: November
    • Applicant notification: December
    • Goal: Get funding out as soon as possible after approval

      Funding Cycle

    • PTO Board votes to determine available funding for each grant cycle
    • Remaining funds from Fall Grants Committee meeting may be rolled over to offer a second grant opportunity early in winter semester
