Overview

PTA Mini-Grants

Program Description: The PTA Mini-Grant Program funds one-time needs when alternate funding is not available.

Geographic Scope: Menlo-Atherton High School (M-A), California

Eligibility:

  • M-A teachers

  • Club leaders

  • Administrators

  • Staff members

  • Students

  • Applicants must be a member of the M-A PTA
  • Funding Principles: Grants should benefit the largest number of students possible across a variety of grade levels and subject areas.

      What Mini-Grants Can Fund

    • Supplies, materials, and equipment including books, magazines, and newspapers
    • Support for school programs
    • Instructional software
    • Electronic equipment
    • Entry fees or admission costs to museums or other field trip destinations (NOT other field trip costs such as transportation)

      What Mini-Grants Cannot Fund

    • Private transportation costs, hotels, etc. (due to insurance limitations)
    • Salaries or substitute teacher costs
    • Staff professional development or staff conferences
    • Gift cards
    • Food (unless to feed volunteers)
    • Furnishings for staff rooms, lunch rooms, or principals' offices
    • Athletics-related requests

    Important Reminders:

  • Application deadlines are final; no late submissions accepted

  • Fully complete the proposal including how funds will be used

  • Calculate expenditures carefully; PTA will not fund amounts over approved amounts (include tax and shipping)

  • Grant funds must be used for purposes specified in application

  • Items purchased become property of Menlo-Atherton High School

  • Reimbursement requires completion of reimbursement request form with copy of approval letter
  • How to Apply

    How to Apply

    Deadlines (two rounds per year):
    1. Fall round: September 30 at 5 pm
    2. Spring round: March 3 at 5 pm

    Application Process:
    1. Complete the PTA Mini-Grant Application form
    2. Include detailed proposal explaining how funds will be used
    3. Calculate all expenditures carefully, including tax and shipping costs
    4. Submit by the deadline (no late submissions accepted)
    5. Applicants will be notified after PTA General Meetings (dates TBA)
    6. Upon approval and purchase completion, submit reimbursement request form with copy of Mini-Grant approval letter

  • Itemized budget with tax and shipping costs

  • Copy of approval letter (for reimbursement)
