Project Grants

Overview: The Altrusa International Foundation provides assistance to Altrusa Clubs to carry out independent programs of community service.

Funding Focus Areas:

  • Cycle One (Sept 15 deadline): International healthcare and educational initiatives

  • Cycle Two (March 15 deadline): Camps for children with disabilities or affected by disease

  • Literacy projects

  • Community service projects sponsored by local Altrusa Clubs

  • Vocational assistance

  • Graduate school assistance to international students from developing countries

    • Eligibility:

  • Must be sponsored by an Altrusa Club in the applicant's community

  • Individuals and projects must be sponsored by a local Altrusa Club

  • Applicants must have submitted 6-month and final reports for any previously awarded grants to be eligible for new grants

  • Flow-through funding is not allowed; additional Altrusa involvement (financial, personal service, or other) is required

    • Grant Cycles:

  • Cycle One: Application deadline September 15; focus on international healthcare and educational initiatives

  • Cycle Two: Application deadline March 15; focus on camps for children with disabilities or affected by disease

    • Award Details:

  • Grants will be funded up to $2,500 for fiscal year 2025-2026

  • Fully funded based on availability and applicant scoring rank (highest to lowest)

  • Award amounts based on: quality of submissions, number of applicants, and available funding for the cycle

    • Important Notes:

  • Grant funding is limited

  • Applicants should identify alternate funding sources

  • Clubs must request Grants Committee approval for any changes to project scope, timeline, or budget

  • Applications submitted using outdated forms or guidelines will not be accepted

    How to Apply

    - Carefully review the grant guidelines before completing your application

    2. Prepare the following documents:
    - Completed application form (Word or PDF)
    - Detailed budget form and narrative
    - Signed cover page (per guidelines)
    - Any overdue follow-up reports (must be submitted with or prior to the application)

    3. Submit via Email Only:
    - Email completed application to foundation@altrusa.org
    - You will receive a confirmation of receipt within 24 hours
    - Do not mail physical applications

    4. After Award:
    - Submit 6-month follow-up report
    - Submit final report
    - Request Grants Committee approval for any changes to project scope, timeline, or budget
