Overview
The Priscilla Clarkson Undergraduate Travel Award, honoring Dr. Priscilla M. Clarkson, supports undergraduate students' travel expenses to present research at the ACSM Annual Meeting. Prioritizing scientific quality, the award focuses on human-based research in areas such as exercise-induced muscle damage and sport nutrition. Open to full-time undergraduate students who are first authors of accepted abstracts, this award encourages recipients to engage with the ACSM community during the annual meeting.

Travel and Research Awards
Students and professionals who meet eligibility criteria are welcome to apply for any of our prestigious research and travel awards.
Established in memory or Priscilla M. Clarkson, Ph.D., FACSM, the 44th president of ACSM, the award assists undergraduate students with travel expenses to present their research at the ACSM Annual Meeting. Scientific quality will be the primary criterion for selection. Following quality, priority will be given to human-based research on topics important to Dr. Clarkson, including exercise-induced muscle damage, soreness, and adaptation; sport nutrition, dietary supplements, and performance enhancing drugs; dance; and exercise and cancer.
Devoted to enhancing undergraduate education at a large public university, Dr. Clarkson, former Dean of the Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, prioritized positive mentoring throughout her career. Founder of the Muscle Biology and Imaging Lab, she contributed her expertise to NASA and the NCAA. Dr. Clarkson's research examined how muscles work when functioning properly, and what happens to muscle tissue following disuse or aging resulting from injury or atrophy.
Winners are encouraged to attend the ACSM Honors at the ACSM Annual Meeting.
