    How to Apply

PRC Application Process - Keys to Success

    #### 1. Submit Complete Application ("Ready to Go" Document Rule)
    - Submit all required documents at once to avoid processing delays
    - Application cannot be processed until every piece of paper is received
    - Different document requirements for each form of assistance
    - View complete list of requirements on MVCAP website

    #### 2. Provide Required Supporting Documents
    - Check document descriptions carefully
    - Even if a document seems similar, PRC requires specific details to qualify
    - Pro Tip: If a specific item is listed, that is the only item that can be accepted
    - Example: Social Security cards required for all household members (cannot substitute SSN from tax form)

    #### 3. Landlord/Lender Coordination
    - Have the talk: Ask landlord or mortgage company if they will accept third-party payment from Montgomery County through PRC
    - Give permission: Authorize landlord/lender to share account details when contacted (prevents delays in phone/email tag)
    - Let them know you are applying for PRC assistance

    #### 4. Know Your Numbers and Limits
    - Check the maximums: Ensure you know the maximum amount PRC can pay for your specific need
    - PRC designed to bridge to stability - has specific limits
    - Close the gap: If balance higher than limit, have plan to cover difference OR pay down to limits before applying

    #### 5. Submit Application

    • Communicate with landlord/lender early - they are key partners in process
    • Verify maximum amounts for your specific assistance type before applying
    • Have complete income documentation and proof of need ready
