PreK4Ward Program

Overview: A kindergarten preparation program offered by United Way of South Mississippi for 4-year-old students.

Geographic Scope: Harrison County and Gulfport school districts, Mississippi

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Students must be 4 years of age by September 1

  • Must live in Harrison County or Gulfport school districts

  • Admission on first-come, first-serve basis by location
  • Program Details:

  • Emphasizes early literacy

  • Uses comprehensive curriculum to prepare students for kindergarten

  • Seven classrooms (2019-2020 school year)

  • 20 students per classroom

  • Each classroom has a lead teacher and assistant teacher

  • Enrollment: 140 students in 2019-2020 school year
  • Funding: Grants cover tuition and program costs; parents pay only $250 registration fee
