About TCWD Founded in 2006 as the Tennessee Rural Partnership, we began with a mission to recruit primary care physicians to rural and underserved communities. In 2012, we became a division of the Tennessee Hospital Association, expanding our reach and impact across the state. By 2018, our programs had grown to support not only physicians, but also behavioral health, dental, and other primary care professionals. To reflect this broader mission, we became the Tennessee Center for Health Workforce Development (TCWD). Practice Site Recruitment and Retention Incentive The Practice Site Recruitment and Retention Incentive is a $50,000 grant available to practice sites in rural or underserved areas of Tennessee. This incentive can assist with your recruiting or retention needs. Acceptable positions to use funds for are primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psych nurse practitioners, and dentists. Awarded funds can be used for: Sign-on bonus Relocation expensesInsurance Locum tenens Tuition or loan repayment If all of the funds awarded are not utilized, the participant must return the remaining funds to TCWD.
