Summary
The Powering Breast Cancer Progress grant, funded by AstraZeneca and supported by CAF, aims to address inequities in breast cancer care globally. With a total funding of $500,000 for 2024, the program seeks innovative projects that can transform care for underserved populations. Two funding categories are available: $50,000-$100,000 and $100,001-$250,000, each offering technical advisory support. Eligible applicants include charitable organizations registered in their countries, while individuals and for-profits are excluded.Overview
The Powering Breast Cancer Progress grant programme is an initiative funded by AstraZeneca and supported by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). It has been established in recognition of the inequities in breast cancer care around the world and the significant barriers to optimal care that are contributing to avoidable breast cancer deaths. The programme aims to fund innovative and inspiring projects that could help transform breast cancer care for undeserved patient populations and patients living in areas of low socioeconomic status. How Much Funding is Available? In its first year, the Powering Breast Cancer Progress grant programme will support grantees with both a financial contribution and non-financial contribution. Financial contribution: The total fund size available for 2024 is $500,000 (USD). The funding will be provided by AstraZeneca through Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). Non-financial contribution: We understand the importance of supporting grantees to succeed with their projects. As such, non-financial support will also be offered alongside the financial contribution. Technical advisory support will be provided by Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators (AONN), the largest national specialty organisation in the US dedicated to improving patient care and quality of life by defining, enhancing, and promoting the role of oncology nurse and patient navigators. The allocation of hours of support will be determined by the size of the financial contribution. There are two categories of funding. These are based upon the size of the applicant organization and the potential impact of the individual project Category 1: Financial Contribution: $50,000 - $100,000 (USD) Non-financial Contribution: 3 hours of technical advisory support for AONN Category 2: Financial Contribution: $100,001 - $250,000 Non-financial Contribution: 5 hours of technical advisory support for AONN Other Funding Considerations The Powering Breast Cancer Progress grant request in most cases should not exceed 10% of the applicant organization’s annual revenue as stated in your annual accounts. However, we may fund some projects where funding is above this level. In exceptional circumstances, where an organization can demonstrate proven track record of delivering projects of similar scale/ scope, the threshold could be up to 50%. If you are requesting funding in excess of 10%, please provide evidence on your ability to manage this funding. Multiple applications are allowed from the same organization, but the combined sum of grants requested should not exceed 10% of the applicant organization’s annual revenue. Please provide a justification if the combined grant requests exceed 10% of the applicant organization’s annual revenue. Please request an appropriate level of funding according to your project needs, in line with one of the two categories available. Part of the assessment will focus on the transparency and breakdown of project costs, and partial funding may be awarded in some cases.Eligibility
