Power-Wise Matching Grant Program

Geographic Scope: Georgia

Focus Areas:

• Energy efficiency retrofits and improvements
• Building automation systems
• HVAC upgrades
• Lighting improvements
• Other energy conservation projects

Eligibility:

• Faith-based congregations and religious communities in Georgia
• Organizations committed to reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions

Award Details:

• Matching grant funds (congregations must provide matching funds)
• Example award: $3,500 to Cumming First UMC in 2023
• Combined with other funding sources, can support significant energy efficiency projects
• Cumming First UMC combined $3,500 GIPL grant with $1,000 national Cool Congregations award to fund building automation system saving $24,000 annually

Application Process

1. Visit gipl.org/funding for application details and to request an energy assessment
2. GIPL conducts low-cost energy audit of facility
3. GIPL provides recommendations for energy efficiency projects
4. Congregation identifies matching funds
5. Submit grant application with:
   • Project description and goals
   • Energy assessment results
   • Project timeline and budget
   • Matching fund commitment letter
   • Expected energy savings and carbon reduction
