Overview

Funder: PlantPure Communities (PPC) in collaboration with the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies (CNS)

A limited number of scholarships are available for Pod Leaders in the PlantPure Communities Pod Network to pursue the Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate Program offered through CNS and eCornell.

Purpose: To ensure that the educational benefits of plant-based nutrition are shared with leaders in communities everywhere who are working to improve their lives, the lives of their neighbors, and their community.

Eligible Applicants:

  • Pod Leaders in the PlantPure Communities Pod Network
  • Co-Pod Leaders
  • Must have been active in their Pod for a minimum of 60 days at time of application

Award Details

What is Awarded:

  • Full scholarship for the Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate Program from eCornell/T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies

Number of Scholarships:

  • Limited number awarded annually
  • Historical awards: 8 (2021), 18 (2020), 20 (2019), 15 (2018), 20 (2017)
  • Application closes once all spots are filled

Scholarship Recipient Obligations

If selected, recipients must agree to:

  1. Mentorship Commitment: Mentor a minimum of 2 Group Leaders connected to the PPC Pod Network over the next year
  2. Publicity and Promotion:
    • Submit a photo for use in PPC publicity materials
    • Allow name and photo to be used on social media and other promotional channels
  3. Written Contributions:
    • Provide a quote about why you applied and expectations for how you'll use the knowledge
    • Submit a short written description after 6 months detailing impact on your community
    • These materials may be used for PPC social media and other publicity

  • Decision Timeline: Applicants will be informed approximately 30 days after submission (may vary based on submission volume)
  • Application Closes: Once all scholarship spots are filled

Application Process

  1. Check Eligibility: Confirm you are a Pod Leader or Co-Pod Leader who has been active in your Pod for at least 60 days
  2. Complete the Online Application: Use the Formstack application form
    • Provide your contact information
    • Describe your role as a Pod Leader
    • Explain your motivation for pursuing the Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate
    • Outline your vision for how you'll use this knowledge in your community
    • Describe the mentorship support you will provide to other group leaders
  3. Submit Application: Applications are accepted on rolling basis until all spots are filled
  4. Await Decision: PPC staff will contact you within approximately 30 days (timeline may vary)
  5. If Selected: You will be notified of your selection and provided enrollment details for the eCornell/CNS Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate Program

Required Information

  • Your name, contact information, and Pod affiliation
  • Confirmation of your role (Pod Leader or Co-Pod Leader) and length of active participation
  • Written response explaining:
    • Why you are applying for the scholarship
    • What you hope to accomplish with the knowledge
    • How you plan to share this knowledge with your community
    • How you will mentor at least 2 Group Leaders over the next year
    • Your willingness to share your story and experiences for PPC publicity

Post-Award Requirements

Once enrolled in the program, scholarship recipients must:

  • Complete the Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate coursework
  • Submit a photo and allow PPC to use your name/photo in marketing
  • Provide a 6-month impact report documenting outcomes in your community
  • Actively mentor 2+ Group Leaders
  • Allow PPC to share your story on social media and other channels
