Pirkle Jones Fund Visual Artist Support Program

Established: To honor Marin photographer Pirkle Jones (died 2009)

Purpose: Recognize, encourage, and nurture artistic imagination and drive, commitment to the creative process, aesthetic standards, and artistic potential of visual artists.

Award Amount: $50,000 (increased from $25,000 as of 2023)

Geographic Scope: Marin County, California

Eligibility:

Emerging or mid-career visual artists

Must be residing in Marin County, California

Works in visual arts (painting, sculpture, murals, installations, etc.)

What the Grant Supports:

May be used for any purpose, including living expenses

Intended to provide meaningful support to dedicate to artistic craft

Support for expanding artistic practice and developing skills

Focus Areas:

All forms of visual art

Application Timeline (2023 update):

Applications issued in late summer (August/September)

Award announcement made in fall
