Overview

The PIDS Foundation The Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS) Foundation supports scientific and educational activities directed at preventing, diagnosing, and treating bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections in children. The Foundation provides the resources for medical studies in basic sciences, translational medicine, and clinical trials to generate new knowledge regarding infections and for its dissemination to physicians, scientists, epidemiologists, and allied health care professionals through educational activities for Society members and students at all levels. Summer Research Scholars Award (SUMMERS) The PIDS Summer Research Scholars Award (SUMMERS), established in 2021 through the PIDS Foundation and partially supported by a restricted educational grant from Sanofi, promotes careers in pediatric infectious diseases by funding summer research projects of students at various levels of training, from graduate/medical school to undergraduate. The award is intended to support scholarship in pediatric infectious diseases broadly, including basic science, translational, clinical, epidemiology, and quality improvement research. Given the brevity of the summer research experience, focused studies or well-defined contributions to larger research projects will be most successful.
