About The Partners Best Starts for Kids (Best Starts) is King County’s community-driven initiative to support every baby born and child raised in King County to be happy, healthy, safe, and thriving. Initially approved by voters in 2015 and in place since 2016, Best Starts invests in comprehensive supports for children, youth, young adults, and families and caregivers, catalyzing strong starts in early childhood, and sustaining those gains as children progress to adulthood. PHSKC BSK Youth Healing Project Youth Healing Project Request for Proposal (RFP) will directly fund young people to work on projects that aim to improve mental health connection, healthy coping (can include addressing substance use), and the well-being of youth. We welcome creative ideas that center young people and address the negative impacts of COVID-19. Projects should empower young people as leaders. Funding is flexible and can be used for staffing, youth stipends, technology, materials and events. The funded projects will take place during 2024. Focus populations for this RFP include: BIPOC youthLGBTQ youthYouth in King CountyYouth in underserved areas of the CountyYouth aged 14-24Youth impacted by substance use (this includes tobacco, vaping, opioid, and fentanyl use)Youth who need support accessing healthy coping strategies. Youth who are part of historically marginalized groups and communities.Eligibility

Be a young people aged 14-24Young people are encouraged to identify fiscal sponsors to help them with managing funds for project, for youth under age 18 they are required to have a fiscal sponsor.Have a project idea that is aligned with the outcomes listed in the RFP description. The project must be based in King County.Ineligibility
Adults over the age of 24 and organizations cannot apply directly for this funding. If you are an organization interested in supporting this project you can contact the RFP lead to be added to a list of organizations interested in being fiscal sponsors for youth applicants.
