Eligibility Requirements

Applicant Status:

  • Full-time sophomore, junior, or senior student currently registered and enrolled in the upcoming school year, OR

  • Full-time master's degree student
  • Academic Program Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a four-year Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Administration degree program, OR

  • Enrolled in a full-time master's degree program in Fire Protection Engineering or Administration

  • Program must be at an accredited four-year university or college

  • Located within the United States or Canada

  • Must require in-person, traditional classroom learning (not online or hybrid programs)
  • Eligible Universities: Programs must be at institutions listed in FAMA's Addendum A, including:
    - Anna Maria College
    - California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) – San Luis Obispo
    - Colorado State University – Fort Collins
    - Eastern Kentucky University
    - Eastern Oregon University
    - Fayetteville State University
    - LSU (Louisiana State University)
    - Carrol L. Herring Fire & Emergency Training Institute (FETI)
    - Oklahoma State University
    - Salem State University
    - Southwestern University (TX)
    - University of Illinois
    - University of Maryland
    - University of New Haven

    Program Background

    This scholarship is facilitated by FAMA's Education-Scholarship Committee as part of their mission to support and recognize students at universities offering fire science and engineering programs, strengthen FAMA's service to its membership, and enhance relationships with fire science programs.

    - Unofficial transcripts emailed by the applicant will NOT be accepted

    3. Letters of Recommendation
    - One or more letters from school professors or appropriate department heads
    - Only letters received directly from school professors or department heads meet the requirement
    - Letters emailed by the applicant will NOT be accepted
