Overview

Philadelphia Diverse Emerging Leaders (PhiDEL) Scholarship & Internship Program

Funder: PIDC Community Capital (with support from Crow Holdings and Colliers)

Program Launch: 2025

Background: The PhiDEL program offers local students from various backgrounds and experiences a unique opportunity to receive both financial support and hands-on professional experience in the real estate and economic development fields.

Purpose: Designed to advance opportunities and outcomes for students interested in pursuing careers in real estate and economic development-related fields.

    Award Information

  • Scholarship Amount: Up to $5,000 per scholarship
  • Number of Awards: Up to 2 scholarships per year
  • Internship: Fully funded, real-world experience in work environment matching student's major and career goals
  • Internship Location: Philadelphia (requires physical presence and full-time summer commitment)

    Geographic Scope

  • Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Eligible Schools: Philadelphia colleges/universities OR Philadelphia residents studying outside the Philadelphia area

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet ALL of the following: 1. Full-time undergraduate (sophomores, juniors, seniors) OR graduate student 2. Student at a Philadelphia college or university; OR a Philadelphia resident at a college or university studying outside the Philadelphia area 3. Internship Requirement: Must plan to be in Philadelphia for summer internships (requires physical presence at work location and full participation throughout summer)

  • Law/Legal Studies
  • Political Science/Public Policy
  • Information Technology
  • Marketing/Communications/Public Relations

  • Urban, City or Regional Planning/Design or Architecture
  • Entrepreneurship

Note: Majors or concentrations named differently but with similar curriculum or degree paths are also eligible

Application Process

Applications are typically accepted in January (closed as of 2026; check back January 2027)

Required Application Components

Prepare the following documents:

  • Resume

  • List of clubs & extracurricular activities

  • Community service & volunteering experience

  • Honors & awards

  • Work & internship experience (if any)

  • Most recent undergraduate or graduate college/university transcript

  • Four short essays (no more than 500 words each)
    • Additional Notes

    • Official transcripts are NOT required; unofficial transcripts acceptable
    • Your full name must be visible on all documentation provided
    • Transcript must be a full transcript showing all grades (not just a grade report)
    • Status: 2026 application closed; check back in January 2027 for next cycle
