Phil Rather Award for Leadership in Healthcare

Geographic Scope: Pajaro Valley, California

Background: Established in 1999 to honor Phil Rather's 30-year legacy of service to the community and advocacy for healthcare access for Pajaro Valley residents, especially those facing economic and social barriers. Following Mr. Rather's passing, his family created the Phil Rather Memorial Endowment Fund to honor his memory and support the Diabetes Health Center (DHC). Across nearly 15 years, the Rather Endowment Fund has been instrumental in sustaining access to DHC services.

Purpose: Recognize and celebrate individuals, businesses, and organizations dedicated to uplifting others and improving lives in the Pajaro Valley. The award specifically honors those who have made outstanding contributions to health and quality of life in Pajaro Valley.

Event: Annual Rather Award soiree - held as formal awards ceremony with dinner and community recognition

Impact of Proceeds: Benefit the Phil Rather Memorial Endowment Fund; earnings support the Diabetes Health Center as it provides services for those affected by diabetes, prediabetes, and other health conditions through education and support.
