Pennsylvania Land Surveyors' Foundation Scholarship

Overview: The Pennsylvania Land Surveyors' Foundation Scholarship promotes and encourages the profession of land surveying in Pennsylvania by providing financial assistance to students pursuing education in surveying programs.

Objective: To promote, improve and encourage the profession and practice of land surveying in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by providing financial assistance to those persons intending to pursue, or who are currently pursuing, an education in surveying with an ultimate goal of becoming practicing Professional Land Surveyors.

    Eligibility

  • Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen of the United States
  • Residency: Must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Program: Must be enrolled in or accepted into:
  • - Two-year Surveying Technology Program, OR - Four-year Bachelor of Science Program in Land Surveying
  • Academic Records: Must submit copies of SAT scores and high school or college transcripts with completed transcript release from guidance office or registrar's office

    Award Details

  • Disbursement: Scholarships paid as lump sum awards in two installments:
  • - First installment: early fall of award year - Second installment: beginning of new year
  • Continued Enrollment: Both installments subject to current enrollment in surveying program
  • Announcement: Recipients announced in July of each year

    Selection Process

  • Selected by Foundation's Board of Trustees based on:
  • - Achievements - Content of responses - Grammar and presentation - Advisor's evaluation
  • Non-discrimination: The Foundation will not discriminate against any person on the basis of age, race, religion, sex, ancestry or national origin

    Evaluation Criteria (100 points maximum)

  • Applicant's Academic Record (30 points):
  • - High school seniors: SAT scores (verbal max 15 points, math max 15 points) - College students: Cumulative GPA
  • Applicant's Activities (20 points): Activities, honors, work experience, leadership positions, distinguishing qualifications
  • Applicant's Statement (30 points): Content, clarity of ambitions and career goals, grammar, spelling, neatness
  • References and Evaluator Recommendation Form (20 points):
  • - Three character references from non-family members required - Objective evaluation from guidance counselor/advisor on "Evaluator Scholarship Recommendation Form" mailed separately

Application Process

1. Review Requirements: Carefully read the application for all scholarship requirements before applying

2. Required Materials:
- Completed Application Form
- Completed Recommendation Form
- SAT scores (copy)
- High school or college transcripts
- Transcript release completed by guidance office or registrar's office
- Three character references from non-family members
- "Evaluator Scholarship Recommendation Form" completed by guidance counselor/advisor (mailed separately from student's application)

3. Submission:
- Submit all materials to PSLS office
- Deadline: April 30, 2026
- Evaluator Recommendation Form should be mailed separately from student's application

4. Timeline:
