PECG Scholarship Program
Funder: Professional Engineers in California Government (PECG)
Geographic Scope: California
Overview: PECG offers up to 20 scholarships of $1,000 each as a member-only benefit for PECG members and their dependents who are currently enrolled in a college or university in a PECG-related field of study. PECG represents 15,000 state-employed engineers and related professionals responsible for designing and inspecting California's highways and bridges, ensuring that schools and hospitals are safe during earthquakes, and protecting our air, water and beaches.
Award Timeline: Scholarships will be awarded in July and August 2026.
Important Note: No one may receive this scholarship more than once per lifetime.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a PECG scholarship, students must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Student must be a PECG member, PECG retired member, or a PECG member dependent (spouse or child)
- Student must be currently enrolled and attending an accredited college or university (associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctorate)
- Student must be enrolled at least half-time (minimum of 6 units for undergraduate, 3 units for graduate)
- Student must be pursuing a degree in a PECG-related field of study (engineering or related professional field represented by PECG)
- Student must maintain at least a 2.5 overall grade point average (GPA)
- Application and supporting documents must be typewritten
Award Selection Criteria
Award selection is very competitive and based on:
1. Grade Point Average (GPA)
2. Work/Volunteer/School Experience
3. Letter of Recommendation

How to Apply
Application Process
Deadline: Friday, May 1, 2026 (applications due no later than this date)
Important: Application must be completed in one sitting—there is not an option to save progress. Lost work cannot be recovered.
Required Documents
1. Scholarship Application - Complete through the online application portal
2. Official or Unofficial Transcript - Must include cumulative GPA
- Note: An official transcript will only be required if applicant is selected for an award
- If selected as a winner, official transcript will be required by July 13, 2026, before checks are released
- If official transcript is not received by July 13, 2026, scholarship award will be rescinded
3. Current class schedule for Spring 2026 semester/quarter - Must show number of units enrolled
4. Dated letter of recommendation - From someone not related to you (e.g., professor, supervisor, community leader)

- Handwritten and incomplete applications will not be eligible
