Geographic Scope: The entire Bronx, NY

Total Investment: $150,000 across 15 organizations

Health Equity & Access

• Expanding access to health and mental health services
• Promoting food sovereignty through food pantries and community gardens
• Creating safer environments
• Expanding nutrition and wellness education

Community

• Arts and culture
• Intergenerational and social services
• Community cohesion
• Civic affairs and engagement

Eligible Uses of Funds:

• Program development
• Workshops and training
• Staff expenses
• Overhead costs
• Any resources deemed essential for project/program success

Eligibility Requirements:

• Bronx-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or organizations with eligible fiscal sponsors
• Minimum annual operating budget of $500,000
• Operating for at least two fiscal years
• One application per organization

Selection Process:

• Participatory Grantmaking Committee (PGC) comprised of diverse Bronx-based leaders
• Committee members from Bronx-serving nonprofits
• Equal power in reviewing applications and decision-making
• Focus on ensuring equitable and impactful funding decisions
• Committee members commit to strict confidentiality and conflict of interest disclosure

Foundation Background:

• First and only community foundation dedicated solely to serving the entire Bronx
• Over $10 million in resources distributed since founding
• Supports grassroots organizations, nonprofits, small businesses, and individuals
• Uses participatory grantmaking approach for equity and inclusion

Application Process

General Process:

1. Submit applications via online submission portal only
2. Email or physically mailed applications will NOT be considered
3. One application per organization
4. Complete applications required for review
5. Prepare applications separately before submission

Timeline (based on Fall 2024 cycle):

• Grant Application Opens (early November)
• Application Deadline: Varies by cycle (Fall 2024 was November 22, 5pm EST)
• Award Announcements: Following month (December)
