Overview
Parks and Recreation Employee Scholarship
Funder: Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF)
Geographic Scope: Texas (preference given to applicants attending Texas colleges or universities)
Focus Areas: Educational assistance for parks and recreation employees pursuing degrees in parks, recreation and tourism sciences, sports sciences/leisure services, public administration, or related fields
Purpose: Financial support for part-time and/or full-time parks and recreation employees whose current employer does not provide continuing education or tuition funding, enabling them to pursue Bachelors, Masters, and/or Doctoral degrees for job enhancement and career advancement opportunities
Eligibility Requirements
- Currently a regular, part-time, and/or full-time employee working minimum 15 hours per week
- At least 6 months of continuous service at one or more TAAF Member Cities at time of application
- Demonstrating satisfactory work performance
- No formal disciplinary action in the 6 months prior to application submittal
- Currently enrolled at a college or university in an accredited Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree program
- Must not be employed by an entity that currently provides tuition reimbursement
- Preference given to those attending Texas colleges or universities and those seeking degrees in parks, recreation and tourism sciences, sports sciences/leisure services, public administration, or related fields
- GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or pass on a pass/fail system
- Maintain minimum 6 hours per semester or graduate students must be enrolled full-time
