Papitto Opportunity Connection Scholarships

Overview: Two scholarships from the Papitto Opportunity Connection Foundation in the amount of $25,000 each will be awarded to candidates who are dedicated to serving and uplifting underserved communities.

About the Foundation: Founded in December 2020, the Papitto Opportunity Connection was formed by Barbara Papitto as a continuation of the long-time commitment she and her late-husband Ralph have made to creating educational opportunities and supporting underserved communities in Rhode Island.

Geographic Scope: Rhode Island residents only

Eligibility:

  • Rhode Island residents

  • Entering first year of law school in September 2026

  • Dedicated to serving and uplifting underserved communities

  • Must provide specific examples of strategies undertaken or to be undertaken within both the legal profession and broader community to support underserved populations

  • Should reflect on how unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives have shaped commitment to advocating for underserved populations
  • Award Details:

  • Amount: $25,000 per scholarship

  • Number of Awards: 2 scholarships

  • Duration: First year of law school only

  • Renewable: Non-renewable

    2. Complete the Financial Package Form
    3. In your application, address the following:
    - Provide specific examples of strategies that have been undertaken, or will be undertaken, within both the legal profession and the broader community to support underserved communities
    - Reflect on how your unique backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives have shaped your commitment to advocating for underserved populations
    4. Submit all application materials by the deadline
    5. Applications are competitive and based on demonstrated commitment to service

  • Essay/narrative addressing community service strategies and personal commitment

  • Supporting documents as specified in guidelines
