Papal Foundation Grants

The Papal Foundation Grants provide essential funding to Roman Catholic charities and educational organizations in developing nations. These grants are endorsed by the Holy See and support various projects, including shelters for the homeless, hospitals, and pro-life programs. Since its inception in 1988, over $70 million has been awarded to help communities in need, showcasing the Foundation's commitment to responding to urgent needs and sustaining the Holy Father's mission globally.

The Papal Foundation does not accept requests directly. Contact your local Bishop or the Superior of your religious congregation and submit the grant request to them. With the support of the local Bishop or Superior, the proposal is then forwarded to the Apostolic Nuncio of the country in which the project is located.

In 1988, the Papal Foundation created a sustainable approach to fund the Holy Father's work now and in the future. Each Steward of St. Peter makes a $1 million donation to a carefully managed fund that annually delivers a portion of its resources to support the Holy Father's responses.
Over $70 million has been awarded in grants and scholarships to projects and students all over the world.
Our Grants
Each year the Board of Trustees designates a portion of the proceeds from the Papal Foundation’s endowment to fund projects and programs of particular interest to the Holy Father. The award may be a small, one-time donation to make repairs to a damaged church or a large, multi-year initiative to teach faithful Catholics how to participate successfully in Church’s new evangelization efforts.
