PAFP FUTURE Student Scholarships

Award Amount: $1,200 per student

Geographic Scope: Pennsylvania medical students

Focus Areas: Support for medical student participation in AAFP FUTURE 2026 conference

Eligibility:

  • Must be a medical student (MS1-MS4)

  • Must be a member of AAFP/PAFP (AAFP membership is FREE for students)

  • Applicants from Pennsylvania medical schools
  • Conference Details:

  • Event: AAFP FUTURE 2026

  • Dates: July 30-August 1, 2026

  • Location: Kansas City, Missouri

  • Description: Largest event for medical students and residents in family medicine in the country. Includes content on advocacy, POCUS, sports medicine, social determinants of health, and residency program exploration.
  • Special Features:

  • PAFP has doubled student funding for 2026, offering $1,200 per student

  • PAFP will match AAFP scholarships if students apply for both, bringing total support to $1,200 level

  • Scholarships will be distributed in person at FUTURE 2026 (must pick up on-site)

  • Not reimbursements; no receipts required

  • Partially funded by Pennsylvania Department of Health grant

  • Scholarships may be considered taxable income by IRS

    Application Process

    Deadline: May 18, 2026

    Required Information:
    1. Personal Information:
    - Full name (first and last)
    - Email address (confirmed)
    - AAFP Member Number (required; free membership available)
    - Cell/mobile phone number
    - Full address (street, city, state, ZIP)

    2. Education Information:
    - Medical school name
    - Anticipated MS graduation year (2027, 2028, 2029, or 2030)

    3. Experience Questions (Yes/No with descriptions if applicable):
    - Have you attended AAFP FUTURE conference in the past?
    - Have you been involved with your FMIG (Family Medicine Interest Group) in medical school?
    - Are you involved in other primary care interest groups in medical school?
    - Have you been involved in AAFP or other national organizations in medical school?

    4. Essay Question (Required):
    - "What are your goals and expectations for the conference? What do you hope to learn or gain from your participation in AAFP FUTURE Conference?"

    Submission Format: Online form

    Important Notes:

  • Membership in AAFP/PAFP is required (FREE for students)

  • Students automatically become PAFP members when joining AAFP

  • PAFP encourages applications to both AAFP and PAFP for best chances
