The P. E. Established in 2013, these scholarships aim to encourage participation in ASOR-affiliated projects, with a focus on individuals who have not previously received funding. ASOR has awarded over $1 million since 2007, fostering research and understanding of the Near East and Mediterranean cultures.Overview
About ASOR The American Society of Overseas Research (ASOR) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to initiate, encourage, and support research into, and public understanding of, the history and cultures of the Near East and wider Mediterranean world, from the earliest times. ASOR is apolitical and has no religious affiliation. Scholarships for Fieldwork Participation ASOR plans to award 43 fieldwork participation scholarships of $2,000 each for this year. In the summer of 2007, ASOR renewed its emphasis on providing funding scholarships that enable individuals to participate in fieldwork in Western Asia and the wider Mediterranean, and also by awarding grants to support the archaeological projects themselves. Since 2007, ASOR has awarded well over $1 million to more than 900 researchers and students with excavation grants, dig and survey scholarships, travel scholarships, and other research fellowships. P. E. MacAllister Fieldwork Participation Scholarships Established in 2013 through generous gifts made by the family and friends of P. E. MacAllister, scholarship funds have been designated to support the participation of ASOR members as volunteers or staff on excavation projects. MacAllister became part of the ASOR family in the early 1970s, and he served as Board Chair from 1994 through 2013. The P. E. MacAllister Endowed Scholarship Fund for Archaeological Volunteers will support five fellowships of $2,000 each for this summer to participants in any ASOR-affiliated archaeological project.Eligibility
