Status: ACTIVE
Funder: Society of Toxicology
Last Updated: September 28, 2025
Summary
The OVSOT Fall Meeting Abstract Submission offers a unique opportunity for PhD and Postdoctoral trainees to showcase their research at the annual meeting. Awardees present conceptual talks with a focus on the 'big picture,' competing for cash prizes and a chance to join the OVSOT Executive Committee. To be eligible, participants must be OVSOT members and submit an abstract for the 2025 SOT Annual Meeting, enhancing their academic and professional development in toxicology.Overview
Each year, the Society recognizes scientists who are making a positive impact on the field of toxicology through the SOT Awards program.SOT Awards are distributed by a variety of groups within and connected to SOT and often consist of a stipend or financial support for research. OVSOT Fall Meeting Abstract Submission Awardee will have the opportunity to present their research at the annual OVSOT meeting during the platform session. Abstracts submitted for presentations will be reviewed by the OVSOT Executive Committee. If the abstract has been accepted for a Platform Presentation or Big Picture Science talk will be communicated to the individual. This student activity was new to our 2022 OVSOT meeting program and back by popular demand. It is fast-paced, fun, and highly lucrative both as a learning opportunity and monetarily as several cash prizes are awarded, including a new award this year for Best Undergraduate Big Picture Science presentation. The twist to this competition is that presentations focus on the “big picture” and are conceptual in nature, rather than showing data. Additional details will be provided to each participant for guidance. Students will be allowed 3 minutes maximum and one Powerpoint slide for their presentation. The winners of the PhD Student and Postdoctoral Fellow platform competitions will serve as representatives on the OVSOT Executive Committee for one year and will receive a cash award to be applied toward registration and representing OVSOT at the 2025 SOT Annual Meeting. In addition, award winners will be provided with a sponsorship letter for SOT membership upon request.Eligibility
