Outstanding Educator Award

Overview: The Outstanding Educator Award honors the achievements of MOCPA members who are full-time accounting educators distinguished for classroom excellence and active involvement in the profession.

Geographic Scope: Missouri (MOCPA members)

Focus Areas:
The award recognizes educators who demonstrate:

  • Dedication to lifelong learning: Ongoing exploration of latest profession issues

  • Curriculum innovation: Involvement in curriculum development with innovative teaching practices consistent with the broadening role of the CPA

  • Research and publication: Publication of recent research findings or concepts that had profound impact on efficiency and/or effectiveness of professional practice

  • Profession contributions: Continued contributions to the CPA profession

  • Professional development: Commitment to effective development of incoming professionals through translating complex information into critical knowledge, anticipating and creating opportunities, and enabling students to shape their futures
  • Eligibility:

  • Must be a MOCPA member

  • Must be a full-time accounting educator
  • Recognition:

  • Winners are recognized at MOCPA Awards Celebrations in November

  • Winners are highlighted in The ASSET magazine

  • 2025 winner: Marcia Countryman, CPA, Ph.D., University of Missouri-St. Louis

    How to Apply

    Nomination Process

    1. Complete Nomination Form: Fill out the Wufoo nomination form on the award page
    2. Write Narrative: Demonstrate how the candidate's experience and accomplishments align with each (or most) of the outlined award criteria. Be thorough and give specific examples showing:
    - Dedication to lifelong learning
    - Curriculum development and innovation
    - Research and publication impact
    - Contributions to the CPA profession
    - Commitment to developing incoming professionals
    3. Submit Supporting Materials: Submit résumé and/or bio to Jill Zeller at jzeller@mocpa.org
    4. Confirmation: You will receive an email confirming receipt within a few business days. If you don't receive confirmation, contact MOCPA to ensure receipt.
