Osher Reentry Scholarship Program

Purpose: Provide scholarships to assist non-traditional students who are re-entering college with tuition and fee expenses.

Geographic Scope: West Virginia University (WVU), Morgantown, WV

Background: WVU began offering the Osher Reentry Scholarship in 2011 through a partnership with The Bernard Osher Foundation, which provides funding nationwide to help students aged 25-50 return to school to complete their first undergraduate degree. Award Details

• Maximum Award: No individual scholarship may exceed $5,000 per academic year
• Use: Tuition and fees only
• Renewability: Scholarships may be renewable
• GPA Requirement: Applicants must maintain a 2.5 overall grade point average

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

Ideally be between 25-50 years of age

Have experienced a cumulative gap in their education of five or more years

Be newly matriculating as a freshman, returning to, or transferring to WVU at an undergraduate level pursuing a first baccalaureate degree

Be admitted to WVU at the time of scholarship selection

Be enrolled full-time (twelve hours or more) or part-time (at least six hours)

Anticipate participation in the workforce after graduation

Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Show academic promise and commitment to obtaining a degree

What This Grant Does NOT Fund

• Graduate students or students seeking an additional degree after achieving a baccalaureate degree
• Students whose full tuition and fees are already covered by financial aid
• International students who are visiting the United States with the intention of returning to their countries of origin after graduation
