Nurse Graduate Pipeline Program

Program Duration: 6 months (temporary position)
Overview: Frederick Health is committed to nursing excellence. The Nurse Graduate Pipeline Program, through the Nursing Resources Department, provides an opportunity for nurses to join Frederick Health and prepare for job openings within the system. Pipeline Nurses (recent BSN nursing graduates) will work alongside and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse Preceptor throughout the entire orientation to enhance clinical skills.
- Temporary position lasting no longer than 6 months
- Not benefit eligible
Program Status
- Minimum Baccalaureate in Nursing Degree
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or other recognized compact state
Pipeline Requirements
- 16-20 week orientation curriculum with opportunity for extension if mutually agreed by clinical preceptors and manager
- Schedules based on assigned clinical preceptor
- Candidates should be prepared to float throughout hospital with their preceptor
- Clinical schedules follow clinical preceptor work schedule
- 36-40 hours per week of proctored clinical experience
- Participation in Nursing Residency Program classes, sessions, and simulations
- Additional learning opportunities arranged by Clinical Nurse Specialist for Nursing Resources on case-by-case basis
Pipeline Curriculum
- As vacancies become available within inpatient nursing units, positions posted initially for internal applicants
- Units typically hiring Pipeline Graduates: med/surg/telemetry (3A, 3B, 3G, 4A, 4B, 4G)
- Specialty areas (ED, ICU, NICU, OR, L&D) will consider Residents/Graduate Nurses on case-by-case basis
- If hired into position before conclusion of Pipeline orientation, orientation time completed within unit of hire
- If position not secured at end of orientation, placement on long-term FMLA vacancies, unit-based vacancies, etc.
