Not-for-Profit Matching Grants

Purpose: To further the mission of The Galena Foundation by providing financial support for community projects which preserve, enhance or nurture Galena's heritage, culture and quality of life.

Program Description:

Applications are accepted and reviewed year-round

Grants are formally awarded upon approval

Grants are awarded at 50% of the eligible project's total cost

Grants are for a period of twelve (12) months

Grant amount shall not exceed $25,000

Geographic Scope: Galena, Illinois and surrounding area

Focus Areas: Historic preservation, heritage, culture, and quality of life projects

Eligible Applicants:

Not-for-profit organizations

State/local governmental agencies

Private non-profits

Public/civic organizations

Churches

Must be IRS-approved tax-exempt as described in Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3) or equivalent

Organizations cannot "share" or "borrow" 501(c)(3) status with another organization

Name on application must match name on IRS-issued letter

Ineligible Applicants:

Individuals cannot receive grants

Match Requirements:

Applicants must be capable of matching the grant amount dollar-for-dollar

Match sources may include: organization funds, another grant, corporate funding, loans, and/or donations
