Openlands TreePlanters Grant

TreePlanters Grants are awarded to people, groups, organizations or local municipalities that can bring together and coordinate their neighbors to plant 10-40 trees in predetermined locations in their neighborhood. Grantees provide the people and the planting places, while Openlands provides the education, organization, supplies, expertise and quality control on planting day and works with the grantee to host an educational tree-planting event. Community members who receive trees agree to care for them for several years while they establish. Applications from identified priority areas with low tree canopy are given priority. Community groups, volunteer organizations, local municipalities and neighborhood associations in the City of Chicago and surrounding communities can apply, and one volunteer is required for each tree planted.

Complete the online application, identify potential planting locations, and recruit volunteers; Openlands helps with flyers and event promotion. Enter your address in Openlands' map to see whether you are in a planting priority area. Questions: trees@openlands.org or 312-863-6280.
