Overview

North Texas Cares - Phase Two (COVID-19 Response)

Overview: Second phase of the North Texas Cares collaborative response to COVID-19 pandemic. Continued collaboration of 31+ North Texas foundations and United Ways with a common application form for nonprofits supporting individuals and families in key priority areas.

Time Period: August 11 - October 2, 2020

Geographic Scope: North Texas area

Priority Focus Areas:
1. Health: Access to health services, addressing disparities, mental health services for children/youth, COVID testing and access
2. Economic Security:
- Job preparation/rapid re-employment, upskilling/reskilling
- Supportive services (childcare, transportation)
- Safe, stable housing
- Re-entry services
3. Safety & Well Being:
- Personal safety from violence in the home
- Public safety and elimination of violence against people of color and marginalized populations
4. Education:
- Reducing learning loss and racial achievement gap
- Supporting teachers/students in online learning
- Addressing digital divide
- In/out-of-school youth engagement
- Anti-racism education
- Parent engagement for home learning
5. Social Justice:
- Anti-racism education
- Community organizing and movement building
- Creative community engagement for equity and rights
- Leadership development for people of color

Program Details:

  • Applications submitted continuously and made available to funders regularly

  • Organizations eligible to apply/re-apply regardless of Phase One funding

  • Each funder allocates own funds, timeline, and process

  • One application may result in grants from multiple funders
  • Eligibility:

  • Must be 501(c)(3) organization

  • Currently provide services in North Texas area

  • Provide services aligned with priority focus areas
