NOTE: NC Humanities is offers Project Planning Grants on a rolling basis. To be eligible for consideration, the activities for which you are requesting funding must not begin sooner than eight weeks from the date of submission. About Us North Carolina Humanities has been a leading cultural funder in North Carolina since our founding in 1972. NC Humanities distributes grants to projects across the state that address fundamental humanities questions and create conversations about who we are and how we live together in North Carolina and the world. Through our work we create and support chances for people to learn from experts and each other. If you have such a program proposal, our team would love to hear more about it and see if we might help! What We Fund We welcome diverse projects from across North Carolina that address different topics and use a variety of public humanities disciplines. We are interested in funding projects that advance one or more of the following: Deepen human connections by broadening perspectives Equip communities with empathy, understanding, and respect Connect North Carolinians across difference Respond to community interests Encourage dialogue, critical thinking, and the exchange of ideas Ask fundamental questions about identity and culture Contextualize experiences, both historical and current Foster a more informed and engaged citizens Move beyond facts and information (what, where, and when) to questions of interpretation and analysis (i.e., “What is the meaning of this story?” or “How can we learn from it?” etc.) Project Planning Grants NC Humanities’ Project Planning Grants provide up to $2,000 to support the incubation or development of a public humanities project.
