Alabama Law Enforcement Agency The mission of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is to efficiently provide quality service, protection, and safety for the State of Alabama through the utilization of consolidated law enforcement, investigative, and support services. Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) The NSGP is a competitive grant program intended to provide federal funding for physical and cybersecurity enhancements and other security-related activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist or other extremist attack. Objectives The NGSP, via State Administrative Agencies (SAA), provides funds to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of terrorist or other extremist attack to meet the following three objectives throughout the period of performance: Enhance equipment and conduct security-related activities to improve the security posture of nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist or other extremist attack. Address and close capability gaps that are identified in individual nonprofit organizations' Vulnerability Assessments via funding spent on Planning, Equipment, and Training and Exercises that aim to enhance the protection of soft targets and crowded places. Strengthen relationships across non-profit organizations, state, local, and territorial homeland security agencies for a whole community approach to preparedness.

Who is eligible to apply for this funding?Eligible nonprofit organizations are only those organizations that are described under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (IRC) and exempt from tax under section 501(a) of such code. ANDAbility to demonstrate, through the application, that the organization is at HIGH RISK of a terrorist attack or other extremist attacks.Note: Organizations such as churches, mosques, and synagogues are considered automatically exempt if they meet the requirements of section 501(c)(3) and do not have to apply for and receive recognition of exemption from the IRS.
