Overview

Nonprofit Employee Assistance Program

Overview: Emergency relief program providing financial assistance to nonprofit employees who suffered losses from Hurricane Ian.

Program Details:

  • Launched: November 22, 2022

  • Geographic Scope: Sanibel and Captiva Islands, Florida

  • Funding Model: CFI donors committed to matching up to $100,000 in community donations; match was met and surpassed in record time

  • Status: Distribution of funds has begun and is ongoing
  • Background: In response to Hurricane Ian (September 28, 2022), which damaged or destroyed many homes and belongings, CFI created this program to support nonprofit staff living on the islands who were severely impacted.

    Eligible Beneficiaries:

  • Employees of nonprofit organizations on Sanibel and Captiva Islands

  • Those who suffered disaster losses from Hurricane Ian

  • Staff from partner nonprofits including SCCF, CROW, DDWS, and others
  • Participating Organizations:

  • F.I.S.H of Sanibel-Captiva (manages application and gifting process)

  • Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF)

  • Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW)

    Application Process

    1. Submit Application: Nonprofit employees apply through F.I.S.H of SanCap
    2. Documentation Required: Proof of employment with eligible nonprofit and evidence of disaster-related losses
    3. Application Review: F.I.S.H of SanCap reviews applications and determines eligibility
    4. Award Distribution: Approved applicants receive grants for relief assistance
