Overview

NEXGEN Leadership Program

Funder: Central Florida Chapter Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)

Geographic Scope: Central Florida

Program Overview: An 8-month curriculum designed to enhance leadership skills and knowledge of high-potential construction professionals. Participants focus on building relationships, personal and professional development, and industry engagement and awareness.

  • Community involvement
  • Eligibility:

  • Up-and-coming leaders and seasoned professionals welcome

  • Must be from Central Florida Chapter ABC

  • Membership types: General contractors, subcontractors, associates, or suppliers

  • No age requirement, but dedication and passion in construction industry required

  • Decision-making ability within their company required

  • Encouraged to have at least one year in the industry
  • Program Structure:

  • 8-month curriculum (October to May)

  • Sessions typically 11am-5pm, once per month

  • June graduation celebration

  • Locations include off-site venues with project site tours

  • Limited space available
  • Program Commitment:

  • Attendance to all sessions for entirety of agenda expected

  • Participants missing more than 2 program days will be dropped without refund

  • Cell phone and tablet/computer use during class prohibited

  • Commitment extends beyond scheduled class dates: smaller group meetings, alumni engagement, volunteer opportunities, and ABC event attendance

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Timeline: Applications accepted annually starting in June through September
    2. Submission: All completed applications and supporting materials reviewed by NEXGEN Council
    3. Interview: Space is limited; each applicant participates in interview with the Council
    4. Selection: After interviews completed, Council announces next class participants
    5. Reapplication: Applicants not accepted may reapply the following June for future program

    Application Questions

    Applicants must answer the following:
    1. What skills or assets would you bring to the class as a participant of the NEXGEN Leadership Program?
    2. How do you exhibit leadership within your company or organizations you belong to?
    3. What do you see as the future of construction in our region? OR What have you learned from recent events?

    Required Supporting Materials

    • Resume (copy)
    • Most recent headshot photo
    • Applicants will be notified to submit these materials before scheduling interview

    Participants and their nominating supervisor agree to adhere to NEXGEN Leadership Program Rules of Engagement regarding:
