Ndarugiriye Mariam Education Fund (Roanoke Scholarship for Refugees)

The Ndarugiriye Mariam Education Fund is a competitive scholarship program run by Commonwealth Catholic Charities supporting higher and continuing education for refugees. Eligibility: refugees living in Roanoke, VA who are seeking a college education or professional licenses. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, once every 12 months per applicant. The fund was established in 2012 following the death of Ndarugiriye Mariam, who came to the US from the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a refugee in 2007, initially to ensure educational opportunities for her eight children; it has since grown to support many refugee and immigrant students with college and trade school tuition, after-school programs and summer school courses. No award amount is published on the page.

Apply through the 'Apply Now' link on Commonwealth Catholic Charities' Roanoke Scholarship page. Rolling application deadline; an individual may apply once every 12 months.
