NCJW Scholarships for Jewish College and Trade School Students PLUS High School Seniors
Funder: National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) – Greater Long Beach & West Orange County
Geographic Scope: Greater Long Beach and West Orange County, California
Award Amount: $1,000 to $3,000 depending on number of qualified applicants
Background: The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) offers scholarships to resident-area students from donations made to the Tikkun Olam Fund and the Linda Calderón Memorial Scholarship Fund. NCJW takes progressive and visible stands on issues including immigration, refugees, human trafficking, women's rights, reproductive freedom, and voter engagement and education.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Religious Identity: Identify as Jewish and have at least one Jewish grandparent or parent, OR have formally converted to Judaism and be committed to the Jewish community
- Community Involvement: Demonstrate leadership and participate in community service
- Academic Standing: - College/University/Trade School applicants: minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above (evidenced by transcript) - High school senior applicants: minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above (evidenced by transcript)
- Geographic Residency: Be a permanent resident in Greater Long Beach or West Orange County
- Application Completion: Respond to all required scholarship application questions
- Financial Need: Provide evidence of financial need via required application question (financial need is considered but not required)
- Prior Recipients: Previous scholarship recipients are NOT eligible

Applications are placed in one of three review groups for consistent comparisons:
1. College and university applicants
2. Trade school applicants
3. High school senior applicants
