Overview

NC Pre-K Program

Overview: NC Pre-K offers free preschool services for eligible families in Harnett County. The program follows the public school calendar and is offered at participating Harnett County Schools and licensed four and five-star private child care centers.

Geographic Scope: Harnett County, North Carolina

Focus Areas:

    • Eligibility:

  • Families must meet income eligibility requirements (see Income Eligibility Chart)

  • Children must meet age requirements for kindergarten entry

  • Priority may be given to certain populations

  • Note: Although a child may meet one or more eligibility factors, placement is not guaranteed. Placement in preferred location is also not guaranteed.

    NC Pre-K Application Process

    Step 1: Complete the NC Pre-K Application

  • Download the application form (available in English and Spanish)

  • Application must be digitally signed and SAVED before submitting

  • Note: Not saving your application will result in lost information

    • Step 2: Gather Required Supporting Documents

  • Birth Certificate

  • Verification of Income

  • Residence Verification (water or electric bill, lease)

  • Children's Medical Report Form (optional but recommended)

  • Vaccination Record (optional but recommended)

  • Other supporting documents as needed

    • Submission Requirements:

  • No photographs taken by cell phones will be accepted

  • Use Scanner or Adobe Scan app to digitize documents

  • Accepted file types: .PDF, .DOC, .JPG, .DOCX

  • Can upload up to 5 files per document category

    • Step 3: Submit Application and Documents
    Multiple submission methods available:
